~Argos is the second oldest city-state of Greece 

~Argos is credited that they invented coinage to make trade easier as trade was important for them

 

~Argos was especially talented in arts
~the amazing staues with rippling muscles were envied by many Greek city-states 
~famous for poets and musicians
~their theater, drama, and plays drew crowds of more than 20,000 people
 
~some believe that Argos was actually filled with half Athenians and the other half was filled with Spartans 
~although Argos excelled in arts, most city-states held Argos at a disgrace because when Athens and Sparta were fighting against the Persians, they asked for supplies and soldiers, however, the king at that time had refused to send anything
~Argos was believed to be the birthplace of Perseus who ripped off the head of Medusa! 

In classic times, Arogs was actually a powerful enemy for Sparta!! 

However, due to the disgrace held after refusing to help Athens and Sparta, Argos remained low and neutral during the Peloponnesian War and Persian Wars and afterwards.
